Makalu Base Camp Trek is most popular trekking destinations in the country. Mt. Makalu (8463m) is the fifth highest peak in the world. This trekking is considered to be the natural paradise as that includes the beautiful mountains, pristine forest, and a wide variety of plants, animal life and the simple and warm-hearted people local people with rich and varied customs. This is considered to be the low altitude trekking, mostly centered at Arun Valley, the eastern part of Nepal. The valley that holds a mighty Arun River and dense forest that is contrasted with the terraced slopes, where you also can see that diverse tribal groups residing in unity. Mt. Makalu, which lies at the eastern part of the country and is protected by the Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Project. The park was established in 1992, which covers altogether 2330 sq km. Makalu trekking does not only offer remarkable sceneries of the mountains but also the varieties of flora and fauna, the plants of all major ecological zones, tropical, sub-tropical, temperate, alpine and sub-alpine that are found in the national park, is considered the home to a rich variety of wildlife. While having trekking to Makalu base camp you will see numerous mountains including Mt. Makalu Mt. Chamlang (7319 m), Mt. Baruntse (7129m) to name a few stretching over 40 km along with the Mt. Makalu.

The trekking to Mt. Makalu base camp begins from Tumlingtar, where you will reach by direct flight from Kathmandu. From Tumlingtar you will head to Manebhanjyang by crossing Tumlingtar, you reach valleys, where many ethnic communities inhibit who have long preserved their culture, the trekking trail passes through the lush forest, sub-tropical valley, flora and fauna, natural showcase and scenic views of the majestic Himalayas. Subsequently you will proceed the journey to chinchilla and then to Num, Seduwa, Tashingaon, Khongma, Mumbuk and you will finally reach Neh Kharka and take a rest for acclimatization, once you are ready with the altitude, you will then proceed trekking to Yak Kharka and then finally reach Makalu base camp, where you take a rest and explore the scenes of this less explored areas and then you return back to Neh Kharka and to Mumbuk, subsequently to Khogma, Seduwa, and then at Num, Chinchilla and Manebhanjyan and finally you will come back to Tumlingtar and fly back to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Arrive in Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft) and transfer to Hotel then  Alliance Adventure Pvt. Ltd will brief about your trip Makalu Base Camp Trek. Overnight at Hotel – included Breakfast & Dinner

Day 02: Sightseeing and Pre-Paration your Trekking

Half Day Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley and preparation of your Trek: Alliance Adventure Tour Guide will explore of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu’s Landmarks which are considered World Heritage Sites; including the historic Durbar Square, the houses of living Hindu goddess and “Kumari House’’. Swayambhunath; stands top of the hill and west of the city, people mostly know as “Monkey Temple”. This has been registered in UNESCO heritage site. Overnight at Hotel – Included Breakfast

Day 03: Flight to Tumlingtar then Drive to Chichira

Flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar 45 minutes then Drive to Chichira (1,980m/6,494ft) 3 to 4 hours. In the morning guide will come to pick-up you in the Hotel and drive to Kathmandu domestic airport for the flight to Tumlingtar, as soon as flight land journey by driving starts through to Chichira, a small Gurung settlement. You have to prepare your trekking for the next days and will meet rest of crew members of Potters. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 04: Trek to Num

Trek from Chichira to Num (1,560m/5,116ft) 6 to 7 hours. Today is your first day of trekking. After a moderately paced walk into the picturesque villages, lush mountain forest and great views of both side and peace sceneries you reach to Num. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 05: Trek to Seduwa

Trek from Num to Seduwa (1,500m/4,920ft) 6 to 7 hours. The trek leads steep descent through into the forest, terraced farms and takes you a Barun river, after crossing the river again equally steep ascent up to other side and following forest of valley entering Makalu Barun National Park from here. The camp to the top of the right village. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 06: Trek to Tashigaun

Trek from Seduwa to Tashigaun (2,100m/6,888ft) 5 hours. The trek through by Ipsuwa Khola on the west and Kasuwa Khola to the east. Crossing the river of hillside through villages and passing by small paddy fields then you will enter into an exotic village of Tashi Gaun. in Tashi Gaun breathtaking Himalayan panorama views can be seen. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 07: Trek to Khongma Danda

Trek from Tashi Gaun to Khongma Danda (3,500m/11,480ft) 6 to 7 hours. Today a bit of tough day as walking on a steep higher elevation. The trail following into the forest of a stream gets even steeper, passes grazing land and a short walk down to Khongma Danda. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 08: Rest and Acclimatization

Rest and Acclimatization at Khongma Danda. Today is rest of time and a short hike around to explore the local cultures. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 09: Trek to Dobate

Trek from Khongma Danda to Dobate 6 to 7 hours. From here climb up to summit top of the Shipton-La Pass, takes couples of hours and after Kalo Pokhari (3,930m/12,890ft) over the Keke-La Pass (4,170m/13,677ft) you will see marvelous views of Chamlang (7,321m/24,013ft), Peak 6 (6,524m/21,399ft) and Peak 7 (6,758m/22,167ft). After the pass descends through to beautiful valley of Dobate. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 10: Trek to Yangri Kharka

Trek from Dobate to Yangri Kharka (3,557m/11,666ft) 6 to 7 hours. You will be walking into the rhododendron forest which leads to Barun river and Upper Valley. During this walking, you have to carefully and slowly because of steep and arduous high altitude. Overnight at Camp –   Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 11: Trek to Langmale Kharka

Trek from Yangri Kharka to Langmale Kharka (4,410m/14,464ft) 6 to 7 hours. After breakfast trail leads to the moderate valley, pass through Yak pastures, lush forest, boulder fields and along the walking significant rise on scenic Himalayan views. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 12: Trek to Makalu Base Camp

Trek from Langmale Kharka to Makalu Base Camp (4,870m/15,973ft) 6 to 7 hours. Today the trail through to base camp and the trail is flat with icy glaciers and snow clad mountain accompanying us and along the trek, you get the soak of majestic Himalayan panorama surrounding you. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 13: Rest and Explore in Base Camp

Explore Makalu Base Camp and enjoy the views. Early in the morning catch the sunrise over the Himalayan. The Makalu base camp is rocky barren place as large of Barun glacier beyond camp and you can see magnificent south face view of Mt. Makalu and Mt. Everest highest mountain in the world with Mt. Lhotse. Hike surrounding lakes, glaciers after that back to camp and celebrate yourself in accomplishment. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 14: Trek to Yangri Kharka

Trek from Base Camp to Yangri Kharka 6 to 7 hours. The trail leading down of Shershong, Langmale Kharka, Merek and descend toward to valley of a Yangri Kharka. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 15: Trek to Dobate

Trek from Yangri Kharka to Dobate 6 to 7 hours. You are leading the trail of rock falls, green forest and following the river bank of Barun valley then toward to camp side. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 16: trek to Khongma Danda

Trek from Dobate to Khongma Danda (3,500m/11,480ft) 5 to 6 hours. Today begin of trek climb steep to Mumbuk (Nambuk), walking into the forest of rhododendrons and cross to the Keke La, Tutu La (Shipton Pass) then descend to Danda. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 17: Trek to Tashigaun

Trek from Khongma Danda to Tashigaun 5 hours. the trek continues frequently long steep descend through hillsides and route taking you thick forests and finally making to the Indigenou Sherpa village of Tashigaun. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 18: Trek to Seduwa

Trek from Tashigaun to Seduwa 5 hours. Today is the last steps of exit to Makalu Barun National Park and trail through down to the Barun river, a crossing countryside of the hillside, further come down cross the village of settlements. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 19: Trek to Num

Trek from Seduwa to Num 5 to 6 hours. The trail leads through lush dense forest and trail goes up passing by Sherpa villages then walk down toward to Num. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 20: Trek to Tumlingtar

Trek from Num to Tumlingtar 6 to 7 hours. Today is your last Himalayan foot-steep to Tumlingtar by Chichira, glorious vista Mount Makalu and celebrating your trekking completion successfully as ready to fly back to Kathmandu next morning. Overnight at Lodge – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 21: Flight back to Kathmandu

Flight back to Kathmandu the 45 minutes. In the morning flight back to Kathmandu overlooking the last views of Himalayan and Alliance Adventure staff will come to pick-up you Kathmandu domestic airport then transfer Hotel. Today you have rest and free time in Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel – Included Breakfast

Day 22: Sightseeing and Farewell Dinner

Half day sightseeing in World Heritage site and Farewell Dinner. After breakfast tour guide will explore of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Buddhanath stupa is 5 km east of Kathmandu, one of the largest in the world and number of monasteries and many Tibetan artifacts selling shops. Pashupatinath is the Hindus holy pilgrims, most impotent Hindu Temple in Nepal and all over from India. Bathing at occasionally, funeral pyres burning on the Ghats and Stands on the banks of Bagmati River.

Day 23: Departure your Destination

Departure to Tribhuvan International Airport. Today is last minutes shopping packing and Alliance Adventure send to the airport for your onward destination of your country.

  • All comfortable Lodges, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, tea, coffee, Hot lemon, Ginger Honey, hot chocolate during the trekking.

  • Entrance to some temples may be prohibited for non-Hindus and Leather articles are prohibited inside temple precinct.
  • Windproof outer jacket and warm down-filled jacket good if afraid of cold.
  • Comfortable trousers for men and loose skirts for women during the day.
  • Gloves, hat or cap, sunglasses, sunblock, lip balm, etc, to avoid sunburn as the sun in high altitude can be quite intense.
  • Lightweight trekking shoes, warm woolen/ thermal socks. (If one is afraid of cold, otherwise, plain ol’ ordinary socks will suffice.
  • Thermal undergarments this is for the night which might be a bit cold, otherwise, tracksuit should suffice.
  • Flashlight and spare batteries.
  • You must star to training yourself when you free once a week or once a day hiking in Mountain in your country or up and down 2/3 hours morning OR evening.
  • We have to need your flight detail and passport photocopy and passport size photo for the trekking permit and Tims cards.
  • 50% deposit in the company account and rest of balance whence you arrive in Kathmandu airport then clear the payment in the office.
  • Nepal visa can apply in arrival gate in Kathmandu airport immigration. Nepal visa charge for 15 Days USD25 and for 30 Days USD 40.
