Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world (8,848m) is known as Sagarmatha in Nepal which translates to ‘the goddess mother of the world’. The scenic beauty of the snow-capped mountains undoubtedly is the prime reason why so many people embark on treks to the region. Treks to Everest offer a closer look at Buddhist monasteries, Sherpa villages and beautiful mountain vistas, making the exploration conglomerate with unique mountain culture and lifestyle.
Teahouse treks start from Lukla, which is reachable via a short flight from Kathmandu. Moving north to the Khumbu region, the trail passes through the tourist hub at Namche Bazaar. Two popular routes depart from here: the first to Everest Base Camp and the viewpoint of Kala Patthar, and the other towards the mesmeric Gokyo lakes. Most treks to the Everest region are aimed at reaching the Everest base camp (5340m) and climb up to the Kala-Patthar (5545m) to get the closest view of Mt. Everest and other peaks including Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse , Mt. Amadablam , Mt. Pumori etc.
Trekking to Everest is possible the whole year round, the most suitable being from March to mid-May and from the beginning of September to mid-November.
