Upper Dolpa Trek is one another well-loved and most demanded trekking destinations among the clients of Alliance Adventure. Dolpo lies in the north-west region in the country, situated behind the Dhaulagiri massif. Dolpo trekking is also called to be Himalaya pilgrimage trekking and hidden valley trek created by Tibetan Monk–Guru Rinpoche. Dolpo is one of the most remote and least exposed areas of Nepal. These unexplored, high altitude valleys were not opened until 1989. Isolated by the difficult topography, the people in this region have preserved their lifestyle, remaining almost untouched by the trappings of modern society. Dolpo Valley remained out of reach of outsiders for long, therefore, the culture and lifestyles of the Tibetan origin people of here have been the prime attraction for many foreigners. People of Dolpo have a primitive lifestyle with their own dialect and culture. During this wonderful trek, you can visit several unique monasteries (gompas) like Shey Gompa (The Crystal Monastery) which is an important pilgrimage site for Tibetans. Dolpo, the best known of the many isolated high Himalayan valleys across northern Nepal, according to legend, the Dolpo is considered to be one of the hidden valleys created by Guru Rinpoche –a refuge for devout Buddhists in troubled times. The people of Dolpo are of Tibetan origin and maintain their Tibetan culture with monasteries that follow closely the Buddhism of Tibet. Dolpo has been like a living library for many researchers who love to explore the beginning of the human civilizations and Tibetan Buddhism, apart from many other attractions, Shey Phoksundo National Park—The largest national park in Nepal, Shey Phoksundo lake and its crystal waters, the rocks, forests, snow-capped peaks in its surrounding is one of world’s natural hidden wonders. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Arrive in Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft) and transfer to Hotel then Alliance Adventure Pvt. Ltd will brief about your trip Dolpo. Overnight at Hotel – Included Breakfast & Dinner

Day 02: Sightseeing and Pre-paration your Trekking

Half Day Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley and preparation your Trek: Alliance Adventure Tour Guide will explore the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu’s Landmarks that are considered World Heritage Sites; including the historic Durbar Square, the houses of living Hindu goddess and “Kumari House’’. Swayambhunath; stands top of the hill and west of the city, people mostly known as “Monkey Temple”. This has been registered in UNESCO heritage site. Overnight at Hotel – Included Breakfast

Day 03: Flight to Nepalgunj

Flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj (150m/492ft) 1 hour: After breakfast check-out from Hotel then Alliance Adventure staff takes you to Kathmandu Domestic airport toward your journey to western Nepal of Nepalgunj, very close to the border of India as a gateway to Simikot, Humla. After check into the Hotel Guide will take you to explore the local market and cultures of western Nepal. Overnight at Hotel – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 04: Flight to Jhuphal then trek to Dunai

Flight from Nepalgunj to Juphal (2,320m/7,609ft) and Trek to Dunai 2,850m/9,348ft) 3 hours. After breakfast fly to Juphal 45 minutes over the Himalayan foothill with north of side seeing views of Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri 7th Highest Mountain in the world. You will meet our trekking staff in Juphal and begin of adventure. Guide will leads your trail through the terraced field to the Bheri River and narrow gorge and continues through to the Dunai which one is administrative headquarter of Dolpo Region and Guide will explore around the small township of a village. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 05: Trek to Ankhe

Trek from Dunai to Ankhe (2,896m/9,499ft) 5 to 6 hours. Today the trek through crossing a suspension bridge and walk into the Hospital. The trail leads up to Thulo Bheri valley entering before Phoksundo river and along the trek, you will be catching to the valley of view Kagmera Peak. You will be walking the trail pine forest, Rahagaun and Dhera Valley then walk down to Ankhe. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 06: Trek to Sulighat

Trek from Ankhe to Sulighat (2,070m/6,789ft) 5 to 6 hours. The trail leads to the wooded river bank and some climb up the steep. The trail is a bit monotonous because of up and down. The trek through forest and passes the high grassy slope above the river then you will trek downhill on a trail surrounded by lush forests before trek reach to cliff followed a dizzying drop on a wobbly stone staircase to the riverbank and then you will reach to the camp. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 07: Trek to Phoksundo Lake

Trek from Sulighat to Phoksundo Lake (3,611m/11,844ft) 5 hours. After breakfast along the valley floor and hour to the confluence of Phoksundo Khola and Phungmo Khola, cross the bridge and walk on the west of Phungmo Khola. The trek continues through Palam village and enjoys the walk with along the nature views of Lake and spectacular water fall which one is highest water fall in Nepal, cool forest walking upper Phoksundo Khola, Ringmo village as well as chortens and mani walls along the trail than trek through to Lake. Overnight at Camp –  Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 08: Rest and Acclimatization

Rest and Acclimatization in Phoksundo Lake. Today is easy and relaxing around the lake and local village. The Phoksundo lake is one of the deepest lakes in Nepal (650m/2,132ft) and hikes to Ringmo village and white Thasung Chholing Tibetan Buddhist Gompa. During your hiking in village explore the local cultures. The local people’s wear Tibetan style homespun clothing and booths with upturned toes for foot wear.  Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 09: Trek to Phoksundo Khola

Trek from Phoksundo Lake to Phoksundo Khola (3,630m/11,906ft) 5 hours. Today the trek through the western part end of the Phoksundo lake and the trail leads contours on a rocky ledge along the western bank. This unsteady trail suspended on a gangway of wood supported on pegs driven into a crevasse in the rocks, signals the remoteness of the area we are about to enter. At the westernmost edge of the lake, the path leads through a lush meadow that opens up into the flood plain of the Phoksundo Khola. The trails lead valley, crossing the river and avoiding the occasional boggy marsh underfoot and then coming on the bank of the river. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 10: Trek to Phoksundo Bhanjyang

Trek from Phoksundo Khola to Phoksundo Bhanjyang (4,120m/13,513ft) 6 to 7 hours. After breakfast, the trek leads along the level path and glacial valley that heads to North and at the confluence of Phoksundo Khola and another mountains stream, old wooden bridge. After this trail toward North-East of the valley. along climbing brings us sheep meadow your trail veers up a steep ravine and brings to you hard climb to the top to another valley where you can see Kang-La Pass which trail will lead you to the Shey Gompa. The camp will near the pass. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 11: Trek to Shay Gompa

Trek from Phoksundo Bhanjyang to Shay Gompa (4,500m/14,760ft) via Kang-La Pass (5,360m/17,580ft) 6 hours. Today in morning the trail leads steep climb littered with slate to the pass. The climb up to the pass quite strenuous and from the top of Kang-La Pass amazing views of a large valley which is bisected by a gushing river. The trek walk continues along the meandering bank of the river, several times crossing and re-crossing. There are mud caves lining the hill overlooking river views of scenery’s and you will be walking pass through meadows where you can see along the trail grazing Yaks, Hundred of Sheep’s and domestic Himalayan goat (local people’s call Changra), after that crossing log bridge then through to the Shey Gompa Compound. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 12: Rest and Acclimatization in Shey Gompa.

Rest and Acclimatization in Shey Gompa. Today you will walk around explore the history of Shey mean Crystal and Gompa mean Monastery. The Gompa was built in 1655, the monastery noted for giant copper as the gilded gold statue of a seated Shakyamuni Buddha. Crystal Mountain is east of Shey Gompa, it is one of the strangest mountains, as contorted cliffs are laced with quartz and embedded with a rich variety of marine fossils.  Shey village is very famous for ancient Pre-Buddhist culture’s of the Bon Po in Dolpo region and they are Tibetan life style of combines animism as the teaching Buddha. Today is another rest of day and relaxing in the camp. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 13: Trek to Namduna Gaun

Trek from Shey Gompa to Namduna Gaun (4,800m/15,744ft) via Saldang La (5,200m/17,056ft) 6 to 7 hours. After breakfast trek leads pleasantly amidst juniper tree’s which descends into a gray, stony, canyon and path of begin zing zag over bare rocks, coarse eroded soil till bring us top of Saldang-La Pass. The subsequent descent toward to tiring along the north but grazing Yaks, Sheep and nomadic tents made by Yak hair. The walking through to Namduna village and will visit in Namgaun Monastery which one is built against the backdrop of a cliff on the north wall of a Gorge. Day 14: Trek to Saldang

Trek from Namduna Gaun to Saldang (3,620m/11,873ft) 5 hours. You will leave this village and your trek leads to climbing up the scree slope and dusty barren mountains. After 3/4 hours hard climb of begin see Saldang village below you from the plateau high above Namga Khola, it has a picturesque appearance. Saldang is one of the largest villages of inner Dolpo region.  Saldang consists of five villages about eighty well-built houses nearly six hundred people’s. it is prosperous village not only agriculturally but also a strategic location on the trade route to Tibet. After the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1959, trade with Tibet was virtually stopped. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 15: Trek to Yangze Gompa

Trek from Saldang to Yangze Gompa (4,960m/16,268ft) 5 hours. Today walk along the north Nagon Khola and barren windswept terrain. The trail begins gradual path of ups and downs slope passing through small settlement of tiling and lurigaun and crosses a tributary of Panzang river and toward to east , cross the river before reaching Yangze Gompa, which houses are old Bon-Po Monastery. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 16: Trek to Sibu

Trek from Yangze Gompa to Sibu (4,560m/14,956ft) 6 to 7 hours. There are two trails of connecting to Sibu from Yangze Gompa. The trail head to west through very remote of village Nishalgaun and further Shimengaun. To the save your time and energy retrace back to Saldang village which one is much easy and shorter than other routes. The trek following from the Saldang along the river and pass through the terraced field, stupa, chortens, mani stone and Chaiba monastery, Namdo village which is also prosperous about sixty houses having near 400 inhabitants. It stretches for more than 5KM on the high slopes left of Nam Khong Khola. The Namdo monastery is located near the river bed and keep continues further down the river another 2 hours toward to small settlement of Sibu. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 17: Trek to Jeng-La Phedi

Trek from Sibu to Jeng-La Phedi (4,900m/16072ft) 5 to 6 hours. The trek along the Nam Khong Khola for while and pass by caravan laden Yaks that toward to Tibet border. After this turning east and walking through to confluence of two small streams and leads a steep climb to Jeng-La Phedi and will be your camp into the beautiful meadow. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 18: Trek to Dho Tarap

Trek from Jeng-La Phedi to Dho Tarap (4,040m/13,251ft)) via Jeng-La Pass (5,090m/16,695ft) 6 to 7 hours. Today the trek leads early morning and 2 hours climb up to top of Jeng-La Pass, from the pass you will remarkable views north face of Mt. Dhaulagiri massif and after wonderful moment trail leads to descend on rough path of Tarap valley, fascinating valley with vast plains in high mountains that extends 20KM along Tarap Chu river. Tarap Chu having 10 villages with fields and many gompa’s, chortens of both sects along with the trek then visit Tokyo monastery and route leads downhill on plain valley patches of lush grass on both side of the river which is totally different from other parts of inner Dolpo. There is also a marsh which is a common feature in the Desert Mountains of Tibet and the Ladakh Himalayan. In this valley, both Bon Po and Chaiba sects reside together in harmony. After a short walk, you will on this beautiful valley. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 19: Rest of Day in Dho Tarap

Rest of Day in  Dho Tarap. Today most time will rest and relax around the camp side and after breakfast explore the local cultures in Dho Tarap, which is surrounded by an irregular stone wall, about 40 houses are divided into three clusters and built a haphazard way inhabited by few Tibetans and mostly Magars who are a hill treble of Nepal. You can visit Buddhist Gompa and Bon-Po Gompa which is it takes from the camp around 30/35 minutes. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 20: Trek to Tarap Khola

Trek from Dho Tarap to Tarap Khola (3,800m/12,464ft) 6 to 7 hours. The descend toward through to wide valley which eventually narrows into a gorge and juniper, wild rose bushes above the trees line. Along the trekking will see herds of blue sheep and will reach the confluence of Tarap Chu and Lang Khola by afternoon, that joins with Tarap river from further east. Your camp will very nice meadow as people’s known as Karmakharka. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 21: Trek to Khanigaun

Trek from Tarap Khola to Khanigaun (3,150m/10,332ft) 5 hours. You have to walk down to gorge of the Tarap river. During the trail pass by local people’s who will be taking their herbs to lower pastures for a winter season. The walking one most of the exciting day of this trip, as the valley, becomes so narrow in a deep gorge in a some of the places you can jump one side to another side. Sometimes there is no trace of a part, you have to walk across stone slabs fitted on log in between the walls which act as a bridge. The gorge also provides unexpected adventure and thrills. At some places, the bridges are either damaged or washed away and we may be forced to cross the icy torrent on foot and finally will reaching the camp spot. Day 22: Trek to Dunai

Trek from Khanigaun to Dunai (2,030m/6,658ft) 6 to 7 hours. The trail leads you to the village of Lalberi, passing through the area of lush forest, descends into the another gorge again following the river then you will reach to Tarakot where is colorful terraced fields. Tarakot is old fortress town as people’s known by Dzong and since Gorkha Dynasty of the capital. The trails through the Bheri river before crossing bridge near the Lawan village then keep continues toward into the wonderful gorge with pine trees. After long days walk you can enjoy the drinks of beers with the celebration of completing your trekking. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 23: Trek to Jhuphal

Trek from Dunai to Jhuphal (2,320m/7,609ft) 3 hours. Today is a short day of trekking along the Bheri river enjoy the beautiful landscape and pass through some of villages and Temple then you will reach your camp of Jhuphal. Overnight at Camp – Included Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 24: Flight back to Nepalgunj to Kathmandu

Flight from Jhuphal to Nepalgunj to Kathmandu: Today you are taking early morning short scenic over the Himalaya flight to Nepalgunj then connecting to fly back to Kathmandu. Alliance Adventure staff will come to pick-up you Kathmandu domestic airport then transfer to Hotel rest and free. Overnight at Hotel – Included Breakfast

Day 25: Sightseeing and Farewell Dinner

Half day Sightseeing in World Heritage site and Farewell Nepali culture Dinner: Alliance Adventure Tour Guide will explore you historical landmarks in the Kathmandu Valley. Boudhanath Stupa is one of the largest Stupa in the Asia and number of monasteries and many Tibetan artifacts selling shops. Pashupatinath is the Hindus holy pilgrims, most impotent Hindu Temple in Nepal and all over from India. Bathing at occasionally, funeral pyres burning on the Ghats and Stands on the banks of Bagmati River. Day 26: Departure your Destination

Departure to Tribhuvan International Airport. Today is last minutes shopping packing and Alliance Adventure send to the airport for your onward destination to your own country. Included Breakfast

  • Gloves, hat or cap, sunglasses, sunblock, lip balm, etc, to avoid sunburn as the sun in high altitude can be quite intense.
  • Lightweight trekking shoes, warm woolen/ thermal socks. (If one is afraid of cold, otherwise, plain ol’ ordinary socks will suffice.
  • Thermal undergarments this is for the night which might be a bit cold, otherwise, tracksuit should suffice.
  • Flashlight and spare batteries.
  • You must start training yourself when you are free once a week or once a day hiking in Mountain in your country or up and down 2/3 hours morning OR evening.
  • We have to need your flight detail and passport photo copy and passport size photo for the trekking permit and Tims cards.
  • 50% deposit in the company account and rest of balance whence you arrive in Kathmandu airport then clear the payment in the office.
  • Nepal visa can apply on arrival gate in Kathmandu airport immgration. Nepal visa charge for 15 Days USD25 and for 30 Days USD 40.
