Gosaikunda Trek is situated close to the Tibetan border and remote valley enclosed by snow-capped mountains that end in the peak of Langtang Lirung (7246m). The Gosaikunda Trek begins at Syabru Bensi, which is about 7 to 8-hour drive from Kathmandu, then we trek through larch and rhododendron forests which is rich in wildflowers and birds, explore the head of the valley getting close to the glacier system. Finally, we climb to the nearby peak for amazing mountain views. Subsequently, from the place, we ascend up and pass the holy lake Gosaikunda and enter Helambu via the Laurebina pass (4610m). In between, we can enjoy the stunning views of Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and the Annapurna massif. During the trekking, we pass through the sub-tropical jungle, then a dense forest of oak, birch, and pine, and the valley, which is of alpine meadows and yak pastures. When we descend from the upper Langtang Valley, we retrace the route back to Syabru village than continue trek to the holy Gosainkund lake. After crossing Gosainkund pass (4610m), the trail continues and leads to the Helambu valley then we make almost a circle going through Tharapati, Tarkeghyang, Sermathang to Melamchi pul bazaar then by private vehicle or by bus, we return back to Kathmandu. The Langtang forests are also well known for their wildlife, including red pandas, Himalayan black bear, wild boar and langur monkeys. Similarly, you also can sight monkeys between Syabru and Ghora Tabela. The views of snow-capped mountains–Langtang Lirung, Pemthang Ri, Langshisha Ri, Dorje Lakpa, and Kangchenpo, Tilman’s fluted peak seem really awesome.

Drive from Kathmandu to Thulo Barkhu 5 hours and trek to Thulo Syabru (2,260m/7415ft) 3 hours. Thulo Barkhu serves as a gateway to Langtang Valley and other trekking destinations too. The driving through the Pasang Lhamu Highway via Trishuli Bazaar, Dhunche Bazaar, is the administrative center of the Rasuwa district, is a checkpoint for permits like the Langtang National Park Entry Permit. The road driving from Kathmandu is narrower and more winding ascending toward the Thulo Barkhu and the trail gradually descends toward Thulo Syabru. The trek passing through dense forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron. During spring, the rhododendrons add vibrant colors to the landscape and offering panoramic views of the Langtang Himalayas and Ganesh Himal.
Trek from Thulo Syabru to Laurebinayak (3,920m/12,875ft) via Shin Gomba 6 to 7 hours, is a beautiful and moderately challenging section of the Langtang-Gosainkunda trail, ascending through diverse landscapes of lush forests, open meadows, and rugged terrain. Laurebinayak is a high-altitude stop offering panoramic views of the Langtang Himalayas Range and Ganesh Himal Range and the Tibet side peaks.
The trek from Laurebinayak to Gosainkunda (Holi Lake 4,420m/14,500ft) 3 to 4 hours, is a stunning high-altitude journey filled with breathtaking views of the Himalayas, serene landscapes, and the spiritual aura of the sacred Gosainkunda Lake. This section is a highlight of the Langtang-Gosainkunda trek and is often regarded as one of the most rewarding stretches. In the morning catch the sunrise over Himalayan of Annapurna range, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung. Trek through the alpine countryside. The Gosainkund lake is the Holy Lake in Nepal as starting of Trishuli River. The lake holds great religious significance for Hindus and Buddhists, particularly during the Janai Purnima festival in August. Gosikunda has 108 holi lakes but you can explore additional smaller lakes like Bhairav Kunda and Saraswati Kunda.
The trek from Gosainkunda Lake to Shin Gompa (Chandanbari 3,250m/10,660ft) 5 hours. The trail involves descending from the high-altitude sacred lake back into lower elevations, passing through stunning alpine landscapes and lush forests. Shin Gompa is well-known for its monastery and yak cheese factory, offering a culturals.
The trek from Sing Gompa (Chandanbari) to Dhunche Bazaar (1,965m/6,450ft) 3 to 4 hours, is a scenic descent that takes you from the peaceful mountain settlement of Sing Gompa to the bustling gateway town of Dhunche. This stretch offers a mix of serene forests, charming landscapes, and cultural encounters, serving as the final leg for many trekkers returning from the Langtang-Gosainkunda region.
